5Excellent product that makes life easier
By Charles L. Biddle
As someone who has purchased and used (not an opinion of it being overpriced) I can say that the TA-100 is a fantastic piece of hardware. With three Canon XH-A1 cameras that change between three tripods, a flowpod (steadicam like device), Spiderbrace, and a dolly set-up I had to have a solution to switching my cameras between the equipment. We purchased five plates (yes they are costly) and can now swtich any camera between any of the tripods etc. in about 15 seconds. We leave the main plate on the Flowpod and do not have to rebalance it before every use. That alone saves approximately 2-5 minutes depending on the moment. The plate is very solid and the quick release mechanism is flawless. I was nervous at first that someone could set the camera on halfway and it would fall off, but the engagement mechanism is very solid and engages easily. I recommend the TA-100 to anyone needing to quickly change between various pieces of equipment. It is not a replacement for a Bogen quick release or similar.

3Can't believe they charge this much!
By Huie H. Dinwiddie
I will preface this review by saying that I have NOT used this product, but was appalled by the price. I could not find one when looking the last few months for less than $140.00! One HUNDRED and Forty Dollars-minimum! Are you kidding me???????????? It's about 4-5 inches long and about 2 1/2 inches wide. $140.00 for this thing that probably cost $.80 to make? 80 cents to make!I'm certain it's well made (better be for that price), but after recently purchasing a Canon XL2 for almost $4,000.00, I was unwilling to shell-out almost $200.00 more (with tax/shipping/etc) for something to be used to just mount the camcorder.Resolution? I purchased a tripod (I already have a Bogen one, but...) that came with a camcorder adapter that is the twin, if not "cousin" to the expensive one and works equally as good.Summary? I'm pleased with what I did-spent about $65.00 for a lightweight, tall tripod AND got the adapter with quick-release buttons as well. How about that!

5If you like your hole saws in one case...Buy it!
By S. Paxson
Lenox hole saws are very good quality. If you have them all in one case they are better yet!I suppose if you already own several hole saws, this kit may be too expensive. If you experienced a burglary like I did, and need to replace what you have lost, then this is the answer. All the saws and arbors are in one blow molded case. The case is a little heavy, but at least you won't be searching for loose saws. They all stack within one another and it is easy to get to the size you need quickly.I think Amazon.coms direct price is better than this.

5Big Daddy
By Tom
I first saw this set at a JLC Live show and was pretty impressed. It has most every size you'll need along with several arbors and spare bits all in a nice heavy duty fitted case. The case shown here is NOT the heavy duty side latching case I received with my set, nor is it the once shown in the LENOX catalog. It's a great set if you need a wide range of sizes and having them all in one neat case is a plus. LENOX quality will not dissapoint.

5Wow I'm pleased!
By Eric Lozauskas
As always, here's my honest review with some background.I've been looking for a good laser printer that I could have on my network for a while now. I have a small office and am an aspiring teacher (currently student teaching). When I can't get to the copy machine at school, I wanted something I could use to do some "mass printouts" for my students. I had an old NEC Superscript, but it frequently paused between pages for a breather and was generally slow.If you don't need the network card (print server) built into this printer, then the 1320 (not 1320n) would be an amazing value! For me, I wanted the networking, so I was willing to spend the extra money. Setup was relatively simple, changing the IP address was easy, and I was up and running, printing from my Windows XP machines AND my MacOS X (10.3.7) machines. Now for the printer itself. I'm very impressed with the build quality. Printers have been turning into plastic junk lately, but this one still has metal guts, metal supports holding the paper in the bottom tray, etc. Certain parts seem like generic plastic, but overall it has a nice fit and finish.Print speeds are amazingly swift! The first thing I put this little print-monster through was a 70-copy worksheet for my students. It took sheet after sheet without a pause! It might grab paper just when the previous sheet is half way through because they seem to keep flying out! Duplex printing was a bonus with this unit - handy in a pinch, but it slows the print speed by about 2-3 times - because it pulls the paper back inside and reprints on the other side... Either way, I dare you to find a quality printer like this, with a duplexer for this price!Instant on fuser sends paper printing within 8 seconds. Overall, I'm very pleased! I was tempted to get the next model up (2420) but the price difference with no standard duplexer killed that deal.Wish list? An tiny LCD display telling me whats going on would be nice - but it has lights which do the job just fine. Also - and I'm just dreaming here, it would be nice to see an option for this printer to staple printouts...I know, I've been around pricey copy machines too much! So, pick yourself up this printer! You won't be sorry. The print quality is very crisp - your well-known HP laser quality, and even graphics are suitable! Its B&W (no color printing), but the money saved on just one toner from time to time as apposed to inkjet cartridges every other month is mind boggling! ...and how often do you need color printing? Some may, but for the bulk of what I print, B&W is fine.High recommended! ...feel free to contact me if you have any questions that I might be able to help you with.

4A year in use--still going strong
By T. M. Pruitt
One-year update (11/2005):I would now give this printer 5 stars, as my original concerns (below) were superficial/cosmetic issues. The printer has performed wonderfully over the past year, no issues or breakdowns. Toner life has been well beyond my expectations, lasting just over a year of use. (I typically print a lot of academic, text-focused articles. Graphic-heavy works might use toner more quickly.) Printer speed is great, and even pretty decent using the 2-sided mode.At this point, my only complaint is that the manual feed 'slot' isn't a 'tray'--thus requiring a bit of attention when using. Regardless, I can recommend this printer for home or small-office users who want fast, black and white printing.----------I recently purchased this printer to make printing over my home network easier. Functionally, the printer warms up quickly, text is clear, and it comes installed with some nice fonts one doesn't normally find standard in Windows, such as CG Omega and Univers.Network setup and installation were easy, you do need to have your own ethernet cable, but you just plug it into your hub, then install software from the supplied CD. I had no problems with installing on 98-SE or XP-SP2 (although the XP computer I had to pay attention during installation to make sure the firewall settings were opened for the print spooler).I haven't had the printer long enough to speak on toner life, but we'll see.Two things keep me from giving this printer a perfect review:1) The images of the printer (on HP's site as well as Amazon) make the printer appear to be the same color scheme as the newer HP PC's, the cool silver and gray-blue. However, the printer is an off-white beige and non-bluish-gray. I was looking forward to the more futuristic color scheme.2) When I received mine, the HP logo decal was missing from the front of the printer. The empty space for the logo is a bit annoying. I spoke with HP about this and the service rep was very friendly, but they couldn't send me a replacement logo. My only options were to exchange the printer (at no cost), or live with it.Overall it's a great printer, and the phone service I've received has been courteous. The not-so-cool color scheme and logo fluke aside, I highly recommed it. But spending $500 for a home printer, I expected better attention to details.

5Works great on a network with Macs and PCs
By Jeffrey Heaton
I have both Macintosh (OSX) and PC (Windows XP) computers on my home network. So I wanted a network printer so that I would not have to directly connect the printer to any one machine.A single driver CD-ROM is included with this product. You must load the drivers onto both the Mac and PC. The SAME CD-ROM works with both. Once the HP driver is installed the machines can communicate directly with the printer. The print quality seems fine, both with graphics and text. Being able to print on both sides of the paper is a really handy feature, and saves paper. The double sided printing is all automatic to the printer. No more printing odd/even pages and flipping!Laser printers have a few advantages over Ink Jet printers. If you print mostly black/white text/graphics like I do, you will find your print speeds faster with a laser printer. You will also find lower print costs than Ink Jet. Further, toner has a longer shelf life than Ink cartages, since toner is already dry and will not dry out like an unused ink cartridge may.All and all I am very happy with this printer. I have not had to contact HP support, so I do not have any opinions on the support side of this product.

5The HP 1320t is the best in its class
By Leon Austin
My job as a notary signing agent requires that I do a high volume of printing on a daily basis. It's not uncommon that I'll have to print more than 250 pages for just one closing assignment. And I have to be able to do that several times a day. The quality of the printing has to be perfect -- page after page. And I need a dual tray printer, since the loan documents need to be printed on both letter and legal size paper, depending on the type of document it is.The HP 1320t, with 2 trays, is everything that I need. It is a durable printer, which is what I need for the amount of printing I do. It automatically switches between letter and legal size flawlessly. Most of the printing jobs that I receive come in the form of email attachments. Sometimes the jobs are difficult because the text has been scanned as graphics, which requires a lot of printer memory. I added an additional 128MB, for a total of 144MB. That made a world of difference. And I need to be able to use many different printer utilities. Not all of the documents come in Word or PDF format. The printer can handle any job, and any print utility, with no problems. It was very easy to set up, and it's easy to maintain. For all of its features and capabilities, it takes up surprisingly very little desk space. I can't say enough good things about this printer except, if I ever need to buy a new printer, this will no doubt be the model I buy.

4Great buy, and get creative!!!
By D. P. Schroeder
If you were lucky enough to purchase this full system (TSS-1100) while it was still available (it may still become available as more sellers find them), you're in luck. I just expanded my 5.1 system (TSS-1100) to a 7.1 system by adding two of these satellites, which are the same as the ones that came with the original system. Voice matching is obviously taken care of.At about 1/2 price of the current add-on satellite offering from Infinity (TSS-1200), which has the same specs, this is a steal. In fact, this was such a tempting buy that I purchased an additional 10" 150W Infinity subwoofer, specifically the Infinity TSS-SUB750 Powered subwoofer Platinum from their next lower line from this same year's offerings and two of these satellites for my rec/pool-table room, which is directly adjacent to my home theatre room, using this 2.1 system I cobbled together as my "Zone 2" with my home theatre system's "Zone 1" 7.1 system in the next room. I really am very happy with the sound of both for the price.Admittedly, I'm a Klipsch guy by heart, but, for the price of these and their way-better-than-average-quality sound, it's hard to beat this deal. I highly recommend them.

4Wireless rocks, but the set up can be frustrating.
By William Perez
I was skeptical about paying extra for the wireless networking capabilities, but I have found this to be a real plus. My biggest complaint so far is the set up wizard is a bit frustrating, at least for me. I wanted to use this printer with my wireless DSL modem. The paper set up manual clearly indicates which installation mode I should choose (the infrastructure mode). So I go through the set-up wizard from the CD-ROM. I wanted to make sure the printer could utilize the security settings of the wireless network, just to make extra sure that nothing unsecured was going to happen. So I tried to set this up as "secured authentication." This cause a "severe error" in the set up. I tried this several times with the same results. Finally I decided to choose the "open authentication" which according to the wizard means unsecured. It turned out that choosing "open authentication" is exactly the right option, because on the next screen the wizard prompts you to add the security settings in order to avoid an unsecured network connection. And the printer installed flawlessly after that!I love having the wireless networking capability. The printer no longer needs to take up valuable space on my desk. The 1320nw also has built-in 2-sided printing (duplexing). This can be turned on for each print job as you need it. This is definitely cool.My only other complaint is I would really have liked to purchase an additional 500-page capacity paper tray. This add-on is apparently not available for sale.

5Remote / Work from home
By QuietWinds
As is more commonplace these days, I work "remotely" for a corporation. This requires some heavy printing on occasion of simple documents, charts, graphs etc. Set-up was extremely easy, the quality of print is excellent with no blurring, and printing time is at a quite acceptable speed. I have had no technical issues with it and consider it a must have. When I have switched the printer from my den to bedroom it was simply a matter of unplugging and plugging it in..what could be easier. I would highly recommend this printer for the on-the-go remote worker or anyone else who enjoys the convenience of not only a fine printer but that of mobility. Bottomline, its a quality printer, that is quiet, speedy and mobile.

4Exactly what I needed
By amyb25
I bought this for small office printing, with occasional larger jobs. I wanted a lower cost-per-page than an inkjet. The most valuable features for me are the automatic double-sided printing and the wireless capability. I really had no problem with installation on my Mac. The text is very crisp, photos are pretty good as well, printing from color originals. It's fairly quiet in operation. My only wish is that they still made the supplementary paper tray. Sometimes the 250 sheets in the standard tray go pretty quickly. Overall I'm very pleased.

5Great Speakers!
By C. Baker
I did a great deal of research to find the perfect speakers for my needs. I wanted speakers that were small yet powerful and well built. Infinity makes fantastic speakers, and you can tell by how much these things weigh that they are solidly built.I hooked these up to my receiver and was blown away by the clarity. No matter what the source is, these speakers seem to be able to pick up and seperate all the different sounds. The subwoofer is amazing, it literaly shakes the house when turned up, but when set at a more moderate level it picks up just the right amount of bass to bring more reality to movies and clarity to music.I can't think of one thing that I dislike about these speakers. I have compared them to the Bose Acoustimass system which costs more than twice as much, and while you may be getting slightly larger speakers, you are getting an amazing system.Bottom line, at this price, you will not find a better set of speakers.

5Outstanding Speakers
By Mudra Dude
I have to say I was a little doubtful of the speakers since it was suggested by my local Circuit City guy but he convinced me that I would love them and I do. I have it hooked up to an entry level Harman Kardon AVR 140 and the sound is really impressive. I was looking for small speakers that could give me great sound quality and I found them in this set up. The subwoofer is awesome with the LFE set up and really kicks in when you need it. The other speakers have outstanding clarity. When you take the speakers out of the box you can feel and see how well they are made. I went from using a HTIB Sony set up (which BTY was a complete waste of $400 because the center speaker went bad after only a year) to my new AV set up and couldn't be happier. Wife loves the sound.

5Better Than Bose!!!
By M. Hyde
These speakers are fantastic. It is difficult to find smaller satellite speakers that sound good for music but these do the trick. They have a great mid-range, highs, and lows. Don't be fooled by the Bose is best mentality. Bose is a heavily advertised brand but not worth the price. They don't use the high quality materials that Infinity does and they cannot achieve the kind of pure sound that the Infinity speakers are known for. Remember when shopping for any type of sound, you get what you pay for. Also, most times the companies that most people have not heard of are the best, Onkyo, Harman Kardon, Denon, Boston Acoustics... Stay away from the home theater in a box if you want good sound with low distortion and do research don't just buy a Sony because it matches the television.

4Pleasantly Surprised
By David A. Lessnau
Up until now, I've always used Microsoft mice (and wired ones, at that). I've been trying to replace my old Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer because it was generating spurious mouse-clicks. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a local, wired, version of that mouse. So, in desperation, I bought this Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse. I was very surprised that I liked it. It's about the same size and heft as my old Intellimouse, and I don't have to mess with a cord. Its tracking seems to be dead on. I've tested it on my old, black, somewhat fuzzy mouse pad, various parts of my desk, different types of paper, and my tummy. It's worked perfectly in all cases. The only things I can characterize as being negative are that 1) I had to remap the Back and Forward buttons to ALT+Left Arrow and ALT+Right Arrow so that those buttons would work properly in Mozilla Firefox (my browser), and 2) I wish the charging base got its power via the USB connection instead of from yet another power transformer. After another reviewer mentioned it here, I did notice that the "scrolling focus" behaves differently in different applications. In my case, Internet browsing is probably where I'd see that the most. But, Mozilla Firefox behaves "properly." So, I'm ok. Since this behavior depends on the application, I'm guessing that it's a difference in how the applications are coded and not something to do with the mouse. Purely conjecture, though.Again, surprisingly, I highly recommend this mouse.

5Best Mouse Ever
By R. Williams
I love this thing. I tried the MX700 and it was a pig, too big and slow. I'm using the MX1000 w/a Mac G5 and it works great. The tracking is frankly amazing, super sensitive but you don't feel like you are on edge trying to control w/micromovements. I have a small platform for my mouse to sit on so I was wary of this thing being too big, but it works great. In the last 6 months I've been through 5 different mice. This is miles beyond any of the others (including Apple's, Kensington's wireless, MX700, the Bluetake).

5Works fine for some, others have problems - I have none
By Dyo
I normally don't write reviews but I see a lot of conflicting reviews here so far and wanted to add my own thoughts. I previously owned an MS Optical desktop elite setup but when in a PC shop here I saw the MX1000 and wanted it as I've had problems with my MS mouse.I got the mouse home, installed it, installed the software and went to test it on some games. I noticed I couldn't assign a lot of the buttons as I could with the MS mouse until I remembered how I solved the problem with that one. I closed / disabled the software for the mouse and could immediately assign the buttons as usual. Not the best solution in the world but it works and the mouse is still fully usable. The responsiveness was a lot better than the MS mouse and worked on a few surfaces I could never use the optical mouse on. Polished surfaces, a 3D effect mousepad and even the arm of my chair. Battery life is very good so far and I like the indicator lights on the side as well as the ability to turn the mouse off to save the battery. It fits well in my hand and tracks well for me despite what I've read in other reviews.I've not experienced the 'wobble' that others have found, I assume that it's a production issue that Logitech will resolve as time goes on but is something to think about if you're considering buying this mouse. Tracking issues, again I have none but some other reviews here are from people who claim to have them. Again I'm going to say this is probably due to early production batches having problems with Logitech to blame for wanting to get the product out there fast. The main reason I'm doing this review though is a review by a "Robert Y. Loh" who lists problems such as lifting it from a surface, trying to use it again and experience delays. Well... I've just lifted the mouse off my mousepad, moved it around the room, shaken it and put it back on and it tracked instantly.Buttons do not work in most applications and aren't recognised in most games? Disable / close the software, all you need are the drivers installed anyway. The *only* application I've used where the buttons (forward and back) aren't recognised is Mozilla Firefox. They work fine in Netscape and IE which will cover almost everyone. I agree the software installed is bloated but again, all you need is the drivers installed and then you can disable it from loading at startup or close it after booting up.The other thing he says that really annoyed me though...."I would advise: stay away for the next month or three, while they work the problems out of this one. Anyone posting to the contrary is probably not trying to make full use of their mouse, or otherwise is posting as an agent of Logitech... "Yes.... it's a huge conspiracy! I'm an agent of Logitech or computer retarded if I post to the contrary huh? Don't you think it's more plausible that while some have problems, others don't? There may well be more people complaining on forums than saying how great the mouse is but that's the same with a lot of things. People complain because they have issues, a lot of people with no problems will never think to post "I have no problems, this mouse works fine for me" so I wouldn't count that.In my opinion, there are obviously production issues that are causing problems for some but then there are others with no problems. It seems to be pot luck if you get a good mouse or bad one, Logitech need to get onto that fast or risk losing customers and earning a bad reputation. The only thing I'd agree with is that if you're considering buying this mouse, make sure you understand the current issues *some* people are having.

4good, simple sander--some compromises
By Philip J. Taylor
This is the 2"x48" Kalamazoo belt sander. It's made of sheared, folded and welded steel. It is of medium quality and medium power.I have this sander and have been running it for about 6 months. The thing works great when you want to do a lot of consistent grinding -- as the setup of the machine is somewhat cumbersome. For instance, the same bolt that adjusts the platen position also adjust the position of the guard. You'll find you need either four (4) hands or some tricks to adjust _only_ the platen but not the guard as well. This is a real design compromise done in favor of saving the cost of a few bolts and a few extra punch-outs.The only other complaint I have is that the platen doesn't appear to be hardened. My machine has concave sections worn into the platen in the areas I use most frequently for grinding. Count on fabricating (and heat treating) your own platen if you want to make nice flat grinds with this machine. Perhaps there is a backer plate material that can be used. Also, the platen is painted, so plan on breathing the paint dust for the first few weeks you use the machine.Otherwise, this is a great tool that uses the cheap 2x48 belts that come in every imagineable grit and material. I love the tool, I hate the corner cutting.--chicago, il

5Powerful sander, I love it
By John
Good things - powerful sander, Baldor motor comes to full RPM almost instantly. Very easy to change belts, uses a swing-lever (not visible in pictures) to provide leverage to depress tension spring. I didn't realize how important easy-to-change belts was until I started using this unit. Now I use the right belt for the right situation without any fuss. Easy to adjust tracking, loosen knob on side, twist upper wheel slightly (sounds hokey, works really well). Strong belt-tension, the spring inside the vertical tube is powerful.Not-so-good things - this isn't a high-end sander, don't expect a finely crafted and finished product. The things that are important are sturdy (motor, support tube, locking knob), the other things are sheet-metal or plate steel. Kalamazoo has done a great job in providing an American made sander at a reasonable cost. It uses a standard rubber caster-wheel (trued on a lathe or something) as a drive wheel. The belt-change swing-lever catch isn't the most secure (I filed a notch in the sheet-metal to catch it at the bottom and keep it from springing back up).Summary - I love the machine and use it for all sorts of things, sharpening, smoothing, metal-removal. I have a lot of confidence in the Baldor motor and the sturdy design. I've acquired a full-range of belts and grind steel, HSS lathe bits, aluminum without any fuss. I DON'T use it for knife-grinding, I don't know enough about knife-grinding to judge the unit.

4solid sander
By JAMES CRITTEN
I have had this for a couple of months and am pleased. Removed the guard though. You can push the pully down by hand to change the belt.
