3A cautionary note
By Bigfoot
I bought this router during a promotion about a year ago. I figured for the price, I couldn't go too wrong. I use this router mounted in my router lift with good results. Positive experience echos that of many other reviews. However, I do need to sound a couple notes of caution:1. I've had some problems with the collet(s) releasing bits. The design seems a little odd, and Its a struggle releasing some bits without damaging the collet jaws. For best results, be sure you don't fully seat the router bit. If you have problems with the bit releasing, tap it lightly with a rubber or plastic mallet before removing the bit. It should drop free. (Please see the following comment section for some updated information)2. Buried in the manual, just before it turns to French, owners are cautioned to inspect the carbon brushes for wear. DO IT. Neither I nor my carpenter peers have had a router go through carbon brushes in less than a year, but this one did. Hitachi did honor its warranty for damage caused by worn brushes, but in my wildest dreams I wouldn't have expected the brushes to wear out with the moderate use I've given this tool. I'd buy this router again, but I'd check it more frequently.

5incredible router!!!!!!
By steve m.
I own them all 12 routers in all and this is by far the quietest router ive heard period.Im a pro cabinet builder/home remodeler and use my tools constantly this is very smooth and stable on its base and although its made in china it has extremely good build quality throughout. The quick lock lever for locking the router in its base is the best and easiest ive seen, no struggling here its so easy to close and lock it seems it wont hold the router in its base but it works like a charm even on heavy cuts, very good engineering..as far as power it has more than enough without bogging down to handle all but the largest raised panel bits with ease. You wont be dissapointed with this router and the price cant be beat for the quality..Now i want this in a 3-1/4 horsepower model, maybe that will be available ...

4This is a very solid tool for the money!
By Scott Pointon
I have been looking at this router for some time now and waiting for one of the woodworking magazines to include it in a head to head tool review. Unfortunately that didn't seem to be happening, so armed with a discount coupon I took the plunge...and I am happy to report that this is a very good tool. The motor is superb - very quiet for a router, especially one this powerful. The electronic variable speed works flawlessly and so far I have gotten great results hand routing in pine, oak, and walnut. Though the collett wrenches are cheap stamped things, they do the job. Speaking of colletts, this model includes one of each - 1/4" and 1/2". They seem to be of the no-frozen-bits variety so that is all good. I have not tried this router in my table yet as I feel my DeWalt 2 1/4 hp is better suited to that for its ease of adjustment and quick motor removal.Overall, I am very impressed with the quality, fit and finish of this tool and for the money I am astounded. I don't like it quite as much as my DeWalt DW618, but with a pricetag that is $40 less it is an incredible value. I highly recommend it!

5Impressive quality right out of the case
By E. Rowell
The first thing that I noticed about this router is how solid it is. The motor is surprisingly hefty for its size. I love the ease at which I can switch from the fixed base to the plunge base. The soft start is smooth and yet powerful. One of the things that made me decide on this Hitachi was the fact that I was constantly seeing it being used in the background of woodworking magazine article photos as well as on the covers and in advertisements for different products related to routers. The base locks are a breeze to use, they hold tight and are easily adjustable. I would have been satistied had I paid even more for it regardless of the free palm sander which is also a fine piece of equipment. It is true that it takes two wrenches to loosen the Collette but that is a give and take situation. Locking colletes are convenient but all that extra engineering in the motor housing just isn't necessary and I feel that it would tend to detract from the solid feel and quality of the motor. The router maintains it's RPM under a considerable load. I love this machine and would highly recommend it!

5Dare I say it? Yes, I dare: Better Than Porter Cable
By D. R. Locker
I played around with a bunch of routers and router combo packs before settling on this one. I played with the Bosch, Porter Cable, Dewalt, Milwalkee, and Makita, but none of them felt so solid in my hand or ergonically precise as the Hitachi.Getting it out and using it (a lot already) has only confirmed my decision. This is my first router to own, but I have used and fidgeted with a number of them. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.I really like the smooth feel of the locks on these, and the precision with which you can set them. The depth stop on the plunge base has a great design and the spring is firm enough to force you to make a smooth entry, rather than the motor 'falling' into the workpiece. The motor is a work of art. It is so smooth and quiet compared to many routers. As sound is a product of vibration, I tend to think that a router that is quiet and powerful at the same time is going to be more precise and smooth than a loud and powerful one. It's true that you have to use 2 wrenches to loosen the collet, but I feel more confident in its durability than a locking collet (as noted by another reviewer).I really think this the best 2 1/4 HP router combo on the market. Yes, even better than the old vanguards like Porter Cable and Bosch. It doesn't hurt that it is also a bit cheaper than most. Now if Hitachi would make a D-handle and include the edge guide in the package, then it truly would be the perfect router. But even without those, I still highly recommend this router, whether you buy it with the combo or just the fixed base.

2Not so hot
By Crusty Woodworker
Hitachi KM12VC Router plunge and fixed base.I purchased this router kit with high hopes. When I received the package i was very pleased with all of the accessories that were supplied, especially the set of guide bushings. Initially I was impressed with the power of the motor, and with how quiet it was even under load. I am still impressed by these features, even though things go downhill from there.Plunge base. The plunge base was so stiff out of the box that I had to work on it for hours to get it to work properly. I finally got it to what would be called "acceptable" but I ruined a couple of chair leg mortises before I worked out the bugs. This was with a jig I have used for years with zero issues.Collets. I have had several issues with both the 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets supplied. While routing a deep mortise with the above mentioned jig (1/2 inch carbide spiral bit) the bit came loose and spoiled the workpiece. This after I tightened it to what should have been an acceptable level with the supplied wrenches. I re-torqued the bit with even more force and now both collets stick in the spindle. The only way to remove them is with a punch and hammer. This is very frustrating. I have polished the spindle bore, and done everything I can think of to remedy the sticking collets, but nothing has worked yet.All-in-all this has been a disappointing purchase. I only paid $134.00 from Amazon with free shipping, so I probably got what I paid for. I just keep reading about how other woodworkers love this combo. I am a machinist by trade, and have over 30 years of woodworking experience so I don't feel it is "operator error". I'm thinking I just got a dud.I did read where some are having difficulty finding an edge guide to fit. I have a Porter-Cable edge guide 42690 that fits mine perfectly. It is available on Amazon and is a nice edge guide.Anyway, I have had good luck in the past with Hitachi products and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. As stated earlier, I just think this was a lemon.

5Just as I remember
By M. Mikoda
Jump boots, also known as paratrooper boots, or "Corcorans" after The Corcoran and Matterhorn Company, a division of Cove Shoe Company, which had the exclusive Department of Defense contract to artifice and supply them for years are a type of combat boot typically associated with the military. Jump boots are fully laced from the instep to the top and give more support to the ankle whereas ordinary combat boots during World War II were laced just above the ankle and had to be worn with leggings or puttees to prevent mud and dirt from entering the boot. These are comfortable and I love the zipper on the side. Just know the zipper does minimize any waterproofing.

5Wear them soaking wet for a couple of days
By GoodInfo123
A friend asked me to recommend a pair of hiking/camping boots. These are the one and only pair boots I owned in the USMC Infantry, GI boots will ruin your feet, I threw them away right after boot camp! Re-soled them many times, never gave me blisters. The tongue will sink if you don't "break" them in, completely soaking them and wearing them until they dry changing socks regularly for 1-2 days to 'shrink' to fit. Don't take them off until they are "completely dry", then kiwi them regularly, soft/supple. If you are really serious, upgrade them by re-sole-ing them with the most flexible soles you can find, your feet will thank you after 30 miles everyday weeks on end ;-)

4Good not perfect
By cabinetfixtures
I own a pair of these boots I bought at a army navy outlet. They have their good points being made in America and they are overall well made. One complain it the tounge of the boot is of a flimsy leather and falls down in the boot and that is kinda spotty I always have to fix it by pulling on the tounge. Other than that they are ok I like the soles the lug pattern is the best for hiking and I like to look. The aforementioned problem is my only reason I'm giving this boot a 4 star

5Dear Corcoran...
By Napoleon Dynamite
This isn't a review but just a message on the off chance that anyone representing Corcoran reads it. I live in the UK and it is virtually impossible to get these boots online in Europe. The ones I've finally managed to find cost an absolute fortune (£185) which I'm still going to pay as I may not get another chance to buy any -since these ones will no doubt quickly sell out. There must be a huge potential market in the UK and Europe just from armed forces personel alone, such is the reputation of Corcoran over here. So for what it's worth, please for the love of god try and make Corcoran boots available on Amazon to the European market -I beg you!Regards, Liam.

4Excellent quality boots
By theda
I initially ordered the 9B and found them to be both longer and narrower than I had anticipated. Exchanging them was quick and painless, but the exchanged pair came with the right boot just slightly wider than the left. I've decided the difference is negligible, so I'm keeping this pair. They still need to be broken in (especially in the ankles), but the foot bed is well padded and very comfortable.

5Top-quality boot.
By Chris
Sizing of this product should be determined by using a Brannock device. At the time I purchased these the sizing chart on the product description was not at all right. This is my second pair of this boot in 10 years. The first pair is still in great shape after 5 years of daily wear. The only reason I needed a new pair was because my shoe size changed pretty drastically and I just can't wear the old ones anymore. The spit-shineable leather gives this boot a great appearance. The high rise provides great ankle support. Oil-resistant outsoles are fantastic for walking on otherwise slick surfaces like tile, steel, and cement. The new polyurethane foam insoles are very comfortable and will survive years of abuse, making for a more than adequate replacement of the originals. These are historic reproductions, made by Corcoran, of the boots Corcoran made for U.S. servicemen during the 1940s and '50s. The look and fit are great, and they only get better with age. These boots will take a while to break in. And they will hurt a lot while you are breaking them in. After that though, these will easily be the best shoes you own. Many people will suggest soaking in water during break-in, but do not do this; toughen up and wear them a few hours a day under normal use and they'll ease into a natural, comfortable shape. Finally, after 3 or 4 years of daily wear your halfsoles and heels will likely be pretty worn. Any shoe repair shop can fix this, but they'll likely not have access to OEM parts. You'll get the best life out of these boots by regularly cleaning with saddle soap, polishing with wax-based polish, and seeking professional repair with OEM half soles and heels (contact the manufacturer for service providers).

5AWESOME BOOTS!
By jake
These boots are very nice! When I opened the box I was immediately impressed with their good quality. They were pretty stiff right out of the box and I am currently breaking them in.( I got them about 1 week ago) They hurt for the first 2 days or so then they started to get softer. They are breaking in really well. I love the sole and how it has no liner inside the boot. They are also priced really well. I have had different pairs of red wing boots in the past( red wing models, 4473, 2233, 952) and I think this boot is more comfortable and it costs a lot less. These boots exceeded my expectations and I would recommend them.

5Great boots
By Sarah
Bought these for my boyfriend. He LOVES them. They are very sturdy and the leather is thick enough not to tear or anything. He uses them as hiking boots. As far as I know they are true to size and comfortable. I bought different (darker) laces for them because the ones they come with are kind of light and they look weird, but laces are cheap.

By Art Tillery
I am a member of the local Honor Guard, we perform last military rites at veteranfunerals. I needed footwear that looked good and would stand up to all kinds ofweather, i.e. mud, snow, etc. My new Corcoran's are just what I was looking for andneeded. I spent several hours spit-shinning them, to get them to the shine that Ineeded. They have already been through the mud and snow of Winter. They kept theirhigh luster through all of it. All I do is brush them off, when I get back home, and they are ready for the next service. I am well pleased. I owned a pair when Iwas in the Military, and they lasted me several years. I am looking forward to get-ting several more years out of this pair. I will certainly do more business withAmazon.com, in the future.

5Winter, bring it on!
By Markiavelli
I bought these new without tags. There was a minor scuff on the toe of one that disappeared with the first polishing, I didn't even have to sand it out. These are beautiful, comfortable, warm, waterproof. With a high shine they look like a million bucks. My feet have never been happier to spend hours in deep snow. They are very military looking, a little clunky, not ideal for running in but not terrible either. The leather is supple, the safety toes barely noticeable while wearing them.We used to drool when looking at these at the PX. I'm so glad to have these for my Northern Michigan winters. Made in the U.S.A.

5Great Matterhorn Product
By NIN
These boots are highly recommended. Pricey but you get made in the USA quality. These boots will last. My fit was 1/2 size smaller than regular boots. The boots have an excellent speed lace system and are waterproof and warm. They feel a bit heavy at first, but you get used to the solid feel of these boots. Has an agressive Vibram tread which won't let you down.

B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System Product Description:

  • Designed for easy operation
  • Electronic circuitry fine tuned to match components for best possible sound

Product Description

The B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System consists of 2 - 12" 2-way speakers, an 18" subwoofer with a 3-channel amplifier, and circuitry housed in a separate compartment on the sub unit's back. A 600W amp drives the subs, and 2 - 300W amps drive the 2-ways. All of the components are matched for the best possible sound and balance with minimal tweaking. All you have to do is connect the B-52 Matrix 2000 system components, plug in the power cord, plug in your mixer or other sound source, and you're ready to go!The B-52 subwoofer enclosure is divided into 2 separate compartments. The front chamber serves as the cabinet for the cast-frame, 4" voice coil and 18" subwoofer. The rear chamber houses all of the system's electronic circuitry, which includes the amplification for all 3 components, power supply, compressor, and preamps. The B-52 subwoofer has a power handling capability of 600W and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. Each 12" 2-way Matrix 2000 speaker is loaded with a B-52 custom-designed 12" woofer and a 1" titanium diaphragm compression driver, mounted to a 90 x 40 constant directivity horn. The speakers can be pole mounted, used as stage monitors, or flown with built-in 3/8"16 TPI hardware for permanent installations. For transport, they mount onto the subwoofer's front grille. Transporting the B-52 Matrix system is easy: Move the subwoofer onto its casters and place the included cover over the subwoofer. Next, pull the included covers over the satellite speakers and close the zippers. It is recommended that you transport the subwoofer and satellites separately. You may transport all the components at the same time by placing the satellite speakers onto the subwoofer's front panel facing down. Secure the satellite speakers to the subwoofer with the included locking strap by fastening it to the bar handles on the side of the subwoofer cabinet. The B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System has a limited lifetime warranty on cabs and compression drivers; 5-year warranty o

5Blown Away
By Manny
I tested this system at home and it, literally, shook the entire house! The music is crystal clear at any volume and the bass is never muddy. I like the fact that this system is perfectly matched (amps, crossovers, speakers) and that it is scalable (you could get a 2nd system and run one system on the left and the other one the right). Other brands have nothing on these.

5WOWWW!!! AMAZING BASS!!!! NICE MIDS AND HIGHS!!!
By Emin Stepanian
PRO'S:I DEMOED THESE AT MY LOCAL RETAIL SHOP AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING... THESE ARE BY FAR THE BEST SOUNDING SET UP I HAVE HEARD IN MY LIFE!!! I LOVE BASS HEAVY MUSIC FROM ROCK, UK HARD HOUSE, HARD TRANCE... AND RAP. USUALLY SPEAKERS HAVE A CERTAIN "TYPE" OF MUSIC THAT THEY ARE GOOD FOR. ACCORDINGLY YOU BUY THE SYSTEM AND TRY TO COME CLOSE TO WHICH EVER TYPE YOU LIKE. WELL THERE IS NO COMPROMISE WITH THESE "BAD BOYS" THEY WILL DISH OUT CLEANNNN!!! SOUND NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC YOU THROW AT IT. I DEMOED MANY DIFFERENT TYPE OF SONGS FROM RAP, HARD UK, 80'S AND SOME FLAMINGO JAZZ. I WAS BLOWN AWAY AT THE CLEARITY OF THE SUBS. I STOOD AT THE STORE TRYING TO FIND SOME KIND OF MUSIC MATERIAL THAT DID NOT SOUND GOOD ON THESE BUT 1 AND HALF HOURS LATER I WAS SOLD THAT THESE ARE HEAVEN SENT. THEY PUT OUT MUSICAL NOTES NOT BUMP,THUMP AND THUD... EVERY BASS NOTE IS ARTICULATED DETAILED AS I EVER HEARD BEFORE. I'VE STOPPED DROOLING NOW AND CAN'T WAIT FOR MY SET TO ARRIVE... PS ALL THE POWER YOU NEED TO RUN THE SYSTEM IS CONTAINED IN THE SUBWOOFER CABINET. JUST HOOK UP THE XLR'S FROM YOU MIXER AND THE SUBWOOFER BRANCES OUT TO THE (2) 12" MONITORS WITH A TITANIUM MID AND TWEET SET UP... 1200 WATTS TOTAL (2)300 GOING TO THE MONITORS AND (1)600 RUNNING THE BASS!!!CONS:AFTER EXPERIENCING THE DETAIL AND CLARITY IN BASS YOU WILL NOTICE THE FLAWS IN OTHER SPEAKER SET UPS BY OTHER COMPANIES. HOPE MY REVIEW IS HELPFULL THANK YOU "DJ M N S"

5Five years and running!
By Dennis J. Barela
OK, I have to say that I own both the Matrix 2000 and the 1000-V2. I have used them for my mobile DJ business for over 5 years and they are still sounding great and take hours upon hours of abuse without breaking a sweat. I have to say that the 2000 sounds a bit better than the 1000-V2. (No, it's not just a volume thing) However, I find that most jobs only need the 1000-V2 which is easier to get around. Bigger crowds or venues get the 2000. Even bigger jobs get custom setups with 10s of thousands of watts but I digress. Again MOST DJ jobs will do fine with the 1000-V2. I have been a singer/songwriter/guitarist as well as a live and recording engineer and producer for over 30 years. You do not need excess beyond what these can do for most gigs. Still, choose the 2000 if you just gotta have the extra power but prepared to lug the 285 pounds around. Even musicians who use these will probably have the benefit of further sound reinforcement from the venue (for very large crowds) so no more is needed. I do have to say that about a year ago I noticed my 2000's cooling fans did not come on. I still ran it all night. It got a little warm but never shut down. That Monday I contacted B-52 and the great customer service reps offered to service it for me. However, wanting to do it myself, they sent me complete instructions by email on where and how to locate and replace (upgrade) the internal fuse that blew. The next time I used it I was nervous but it ran at high volumes for over 8 hours straight with no problems. To date, it still rocks hard! You cannot find a better warranty out there these days either!

5Rubbermaid 12 gallon step-on trash can
By Mexine
This is our second one. The first one is over 5 years old and in perfect condition. They are well designed and very durable - you'd have to get pretty clever (or clumsy) to figure out how to break it. For use in the kitchen ours has proven wonderfully useful when one or both hands are full. Highly recommended over the many "prettier" metal step-ons in the market that don't seem to last much at all.
