Transit bags not only protect your Engel fridge/freezer with a layer of insulation, but they also offer a heavy-duty foil layer on the inner side that reflects direct sunlight and long wave radiation. High quality gray canvas outer layer comes with an accessory pocket and vents. The bag covers the entire unit and is easy to open - simply unzip the bag on top. The bags work with the corresponding Transit Slide Locks. Breathing holes are built in to the compressor will not over heat. A must for hot weather camping.

I do a lot of off-the-beaten-trail camping in the desert Southwest for up to 10 days at a time. The summer temperatures will often get up to 105 to 110 deg. The Engel MT-45 fridge does an excellent job keeping perishables cold but in the desert heat, this transit bag is a must. The transit bag provides a significant extra layer of insulation so that the fridge doesn't have to run all the time to keep up in the heat. Besides providing protection to the MT-45, the transit bag will cut the fridge's net power consumption considerably. Without the transit bag, my MT-45 would draw close to 2 amps on average on hot summer days. With the transit bag, my MT-45 draws 1.1 amps on average. If you're running on a solar charged AGM battery bank as I do, the difference in power consumption is important.

Nearly perfect in design, perfect in quality

Ordered the bag from Big Frog Mountain through Amazon and got it quickly and well packaged. The item actually shipped directly from Engel in Jupiter, FL. The quality of the bag is top-notch. Would have given it 5 stars but the bag interferes with the latch on the frig lid a bit. It makes it kinda hard to reach between the frig and the cover to latch and unlatch the lid. Not a huge deal, but a big inconvenient to access the latch. I'm afraid it may mess up the inner foil surface of the bag over a short period of time.
