I bought this clock to replace a Bose unit on my nightstand. While the Bose has excellent sound, the footprint was too big (or, so I was told by my wife). The Bose has an automatic dimming feature on the display, so the replacement had to be easily readable from across the room in daylight. The Seth Thomas is, of course, of a high quality. The finish of the cabinet fits well with the nightstand, and the footprint is less than half of the Bose unit. The display is easily readable across the room, but not so bright that it keeps me awake at night. The sound quality is no match for the Bose, but all this unit has to do is wake me up. I may lay in bed for a while and listen to the news, but I don't use the radio feature during the day and I don't fall asleep to music (that's what books are for). The one negative for this unit is that the analog alarm is not as precise as the digital alarms on other units. I used to set the Bose for 6:27 am so that I would be awake when the news came on. If you fiddle with this one, you can get the time close, but it's still just a hand.Overall, a high-quality analog clock radio. I am very satisfied.
