4multi pump single shot air rifle

These tried and true American made air guns are just a great today as they were back in the 60's when I first had one.- AND they are a great upper body work out.

1Blue Streak Pneumatic Air Rifle
By tworiverguns
Item was listed as a "handcrafted american walnut stock" but it actually was a hardwood with a walnut finish and it was stated so on the box. Other sites offer this same pellet rifle with hardwood stock, at a lesser price, but I chose this site because I wanted a better quality stock which I didn't get. Paid higher, got less.

5A DURABLE DELIGHT!!
By CHERYL D. BARNES
I bought this soft sided pet crate in hopes that my new Yorkie Terrier, Brando, would have a safe haven to welcome him home.Since he is such a tiny guy, this crate offers both a play area and a bedroom. The construction is very durable and the color (red, my favorite) is fun.I particularly like the three entries and the two storage pouches, one of which is detachable. So far, he is enjoying the crate. I like the fact that the sides are soft, since he is still in his wobbly stage. This was a great buy for us.Be Blessed.

5size ok for mini poodle + how to close, how to make your dog want to use it
By mb
1. I researched this purchase for quite a while and didn't find anything terribly helpful about size (you should be reading this review under "small"). I bought this crate in this size (small), and I'd like to let you know that a miniature poodle fits inside nicely. (It's way big for a doxie or a maltese or a Bishon. Or a big cat! You could fit 3 big cats in it - 4, if they are friends.)2. I was worried (arthritic thumbs) that opening and closing it might be a problem. Opening it is a breeze. Closing it is a little more complex. The button to push is located between the crate wall and the frame tubing and can't be seen. It's about the size of a dime and slightly dome-shaped, so feel about until you find it. You may have to turn the crate around several directions to get a good angle to squeeze on the button. It's not easy, but at least now you know where the button IS! (This is not obvious from the instructions....) To press the button, I either use my fingers or use one thumb to push down the other thumb. Not ideal, but.. The crate folds up quite compactly and weighs very, very little.3. Found out from the company that the difference between the regular (older) style and Generation II (new) is that the new one folds up more compactly. No change in the folding mechanism, however.4. It wasn't clear (to me, at least) in the product description here whether there was a handle built in. There is. I wouldn't carry the crate by it, however. I use one of those fold-up carts with the bungee cords on it that you put your luggage on & pull behind you at the airport.5. Zippers are sturdy enough. Several people commented that this was a concern. I didn't find this to be so.6. Corner reinforcements are the same material as the crate but stitched all around, so they really are no more than decoration. Would they had been leather! "Screens" are sturdy, too, and close enough mesh to keep out mosquitoes (tho I'd spray around the crate w/o the dog in it, first).7. Floor pad is pretty flimsy and thin. There is a separate piece of plastic sheeting that could be used as a liquid-repellent under the floor pad. Or it could be used as a ground cloth under the crate to keep it off damp grass. (I just use a foam-type pad sold for going under a sleeping bag. It's longer than the crate, so it leaves a "front door mat" for me to kneel on. Much better than something that fits just under the crate. Other doggie people use a tarp.)8. There is a distinct odor in the fabric/plastic. Open the crate and air it out (mine's been airing out over a week and still has a noticeable odor) several weeks before you need it. (Hang out the pad; and also any sleeping bag ground cloth or tarp.)11. The little pouch with the shoulder strap (that doubles as a leash) is somewhat problematic. The clips that hold it in place are quite stiff plastic. I just knew I was going to break at least one, so I went to the hardware store and got double-ended clasps. The kind shaped sort of like a question mark; you open the "jaw" by pulling a slider down with your thumb; I hope this is an adequate enough explanation; I know they must have a name, but either I don't know it or I can't remember it. Anyway, I got 2 of these and hooked them to the crate D-rings. Took off the pouch carefully. When I want to re-attach, I use the other end of the question mark thingie.10. As you see, the crate is open on all four sides. There is nothing that fits over the crate to keep the wind from whistling through. So use towels, a tarp, etc. I got some cotton fleece (the kind that doesn't need hemming, so it's like felt in this respect) and made a "designer wind cover" just by cutting the fabric. We like to look fashionable, you see.11. I don't know where the "19 pounds" in the product description came from. This crate weighs 8 pounds (without stuff in the detachable tote bag and the sewn-in zip pocket, of course).12. You don't need any kind of storage bag. Slip on a bag from the dry-cleaners or a dress bag from the department store over it.~~Teach your dog that this is a good place to be. Initially, this might provoke some disbelief in your dog if the odor is still strong! When everything is aired out sufficiently (remember your dog has a better smeller than you do, so don't be in a hurry), teach him that "in and sit" results in a high-value treat (such as piece of cheese or hotdog). Unzip the top, reach your hand in with the treat and point your hand to the back wall to encourage your dog to come all the way in. As -soon- as he sits completely inside the crate, he gets the treat. Don't zip the opening or try to get the dog to stay inside; let the dog leave. Right now, you're just teaching him to get in the crate. Later, put some cheese in a Kong. Say, "Time for cheese!!!!!" and put the Kong in the back of the crate. When the dog goes in ("Good boy! Time for cheese!!!!!"), zip the front shut and have him stay in the crate for a while. Start with 3 minutes. (The Kong will occupy him for a large part of the time if you squirt the cheese down into the narrow area of the Kong.) Stay within sight and occupy yourself with a book. Don't let him out if he whines; don't say anything; don't even look his way. Your dog knows how to get his way with you! If you give in, you've lost the war. Next time, if necessary, reduce time to 2 minutes, or even 1, so he has a chance to succeed. Work up to 30 minutes or so. Or even overnight. A Kong with some cheese is a miracle-worker! (Note: Overnight, as soon as my dog is inside, I cover the crate with a towel so it's dark and he can't see what's going on. Everyone is going to bed, anyway, so he's not missing anything! Having the towel over the crate sends another signal to quiet down and have a nice nap.)If, when in use, the dog gets agitated at someone walking by (such as at a dog show - see below), desensitize him in the same way. Have someone hand him a treat thru the back of the crate and give whatever command you're using ("Hush" or "Shhh" or whatever). Therefore, "people walking by = treat". Start with strangers, work up to family members, then to you, and then to people with dogs.~~Definitely a good purchase. Sturdy. Not too heavy to transport. Little pockets are handy for fold-up water bowl, etc. Super-easy open; a little recalcitrant to close.I am using it for obedience trials. Unless he's in the ring, he has to be "contained." If I have to find the porta-potty, I can't take him in (well, I wouldn't -want- to take him in "barefooted"....).If he's a happy camper in a crate, this one would be fine for leaving your dog in it in a hotel room while you go to dinner. If he's not (but see above) or is a professional chewer when crated (the Kong might not work but you should try it), he might do some chewing damage while you're gone. (Room service, anyone?)Really, really excellent purchase. Highly recommend. mb

5wonderful -- designed for specific purposes
By Marjorie Klenin
Don't plan on using this as an all-purpose crate. Puppies will chew through it if you try to use it as a permanent training crate. It wasn't intended to be treated as airline baggage. I got it primarily to get my puppy through her first long car trip home. I'm now using it as a safe way to take her on short trips and to train her to ride. She seems to find it very secure, comfortable, and reassuring. It sets up and folds quickly and easily. It is light and easy to handle, but very sturdy. I use it mostly in the passenger seat of my car, but wouldn't mind putting it in the back with my adult dog -- something I wouldn't dream of with a hard metal crate. The one time the puppy upchucked, the cleanup was trivial. The bottom pan is held in place by velcro; it got pulled out in a few seconds and then got hosed down. The soft pad got hosed down and thrown into the washer and dryer. I don't plan to use this more than a few months, but at the end of that time I expect to have a sturdy, confident and happy dog traveler.

4Definitly out-performs other vacuums we have owned
By David E. Shalek
We have had the DC14 Animal less than a week, but so far we are amazed at it's performance. With 2 teenage kids, 2 Newfoundland dogs, a cat, a parrot and a finch, the floors see their fair share of dirt, hair, crumbs and feathers. We have mostly carpet with some hardwood floors with runners. This machine does an equally great job on all. Its is easy to push around and the long cord allows you to cover a lot of area without having to find another outlet. The wand is easy to use and, judging by the reviews on the DC07, an improved design. Instead of having to disconnect it from the hose, turn it around and re-connect it as noted on earlier reviews on the DC07, you just release it from the handle and extend it.I don't put a lot of credit in the "sweep with old vacuum then sweep with new" to determine how much better the new unit is. I tried sweeping with the new unit and then swept again with the new unit and picked up more dirt. The test that convinced me that this does a better job is on an item that has never been succesfully cleaned with the old vacuum. We have a 2x4 dirt mat that is in front of the door between the garage and house. It is of a thick fiber material that catches and holds dirt and especially dog hair. Our old Hoover bagless has never been able to completely clean it. In order to remove the hair, we had to use a short stiff bristle brush and brush it out. The DC14 did the job. Did it do it in one swipe you ask? No. I had to sweep it good to get it clean but it did remove ALL the hair and dirt. I was definitly impressed. We have not used the tools enough to form any kind of opinion on them yet. We have used the turbo brush on the furniture and it seems to do a decent job but I would recommend that you remove the handle from the hose and fit the brush on the end of the hose. It makes it much easier to use.OK! That's the fluff. Now for the grit.I guess nothing in this world is perfect. This is the second DC14 we have had in a week. The first unit made an awful ratcheting noise when we used it on the runners on the hardwood floor. I had seen other reviews that commented on this along with statements that it is a design feature to prevent damage to the life-long brush drive belt. If a rug gets sucked up into the brush and tries to stall the brush, a clutch begines to slip rather than burn the belt up. I called Dyson and they confirmed this. Good plan in theory. However, we had tried both the DC07 and the DC14 display models at the store. The section of carpet was similar to a throw rug. I could see the rug being sucked up to the head and hear the brush bar flogging the snot out of it and neither one of those machines ratcheted. In my case, the brush bar was turning and didn't sound like it was trying to stall so, assuming maybe the tension on the clutch on my machine was not set properly, I took it back and exchanged it for another. No more ratcheting sounds. I think Dyson needs a little more "Quality Control" on their clutch. I might add there is a good example why some items might be better purchased from a local store. Much less hassle if you do experience a problem. All and all, we are very satisfied with the DC14. Only time will tell on it's durability. But in view of the fact it is an improved version of the DC07 and reviews have shown for the most part it holds up well, I expect this vacuum to last as long or longer than any other leading bagless vacuum currently on the market. If it wasn't for the fact of having to take the first unit back, I would have given it 5 stars. I recommend the DC14.

2Powerful Vacuum Cleaner, But...
By Donald W. Wooten
In my earlier working years I managed and then owned and operated a small appliance and motor repair shop. One of my primary services was the repair of vacuum cleaners. I came to know vacuums inside-out and quickly learned that probably the most important factor for top cleaning ability was unrestricted air flow through the machine. Full or cheap off-brand bags reduced air flow and thus prevented efficient cleaning. Years later when I began to learn of Dyson's innovations I knew my next cleaner would be from him. Earlier this year the time came and I purchased one with all the gadgets. I was pleased to see that Dyson's technology did a very good job to maintaining a high and consistent air flow as dirt accumulated in the machine. I was not disappointed in that respect. But a $400-$600 vacuum cleaner needs to do more than maintain suction caused by a high air flow. The unit that I purchased had the feature allowing one to turn off the rotating brush while vacuuming hard surfaces. This feature was so temperamental that, for unknown reasons, it would slip out and turn itself off while I was vacuuming carpet. Because of the noise it was only possible to know if the brush was turning by putting something under the brush head. This was dangerous and troublesome. I found that often I'd be vacuuming large areas of carpet without the aid of the rotating brush.I also found out that the rubber belt for the roller brush was not user replaceable. The fact that the rubber belt quickly stretches under use and thereby causes the belt to slip more and more as it ages, means that it should be regularly replaced for good cleaning results. This should be done several times a year. Although I could replace the belts myself, it would void the warranty. This was not satisfactory to me and added another strike against the machine. My wife has severe allergies and my decision to purchase the Dyson was aided by its HEPA filtration system. I had no complaints about the Dyson's ability to filter. But I had a major problem because of the design of the machine that vented the exhaust air out the lower front area. This cause the dust and dirt in front of the machine to be blown up into the air. This was the final strike.I used the machine for 30 days and gradually discovered these design problems along with the difficulty of using the attachments. Although it performs the tasks of an upright and canister vacuum cleaner well, the attachments are a struggle to use. I returned the Dyson back to the store and purchased a different machine for half the price. This one uses HEPA bags and filters which will cost me the difference over time, but at least the brushes turn when I want them to, I can replace the belts, and the exhaust air doesn't kick dirt into the air.Dyson accomplished his goal of not loosing suction as dirt was collected in the machine. But he needs to spend more time developing a good vacuum cleaner to put this technology into. He needs to know that when people spend that much money for a vacuum cleaner they expect little things too; like a lamp -- a little thing, but something that is missed and therefore disappoints.

5Dyson's are great....don't listen to the negative comments...
By Ryan Pierce
Ok, look....I sell dysons for a living, as I am a college student who works in the Sears vacuum department. Usually I ignore most ignorant reviews made by those who have tried them and do not like them. But this time, I decided to set the record straight for those who are looking to purchase one.1. Dyson's are a mixed blessing. They have tremendous suction, and no they do NOT typically lose it after a year. If they do, they have a absolutely full two year warrenty that covers even maintainence, something unheard of in vacuum cleaners under a $1000 (the closest other than dyson is a 1 year limited warrenty such as kenmore's); simply call up dyson and they should fix it for you. However, I have seen certain people complain that the suction is sometimes too strong. That is because a dyson depends more upon the power of its suction than its beater bar to pick up most things. Works great on bare floors and 90% of carpets, not as well on some, so there is a possiibility of you having problems.2. Few people have problems with the attachments, but occasionally it happens, mostly because those people tend to misuse the attachments for whatever reason. Consumers must understand the reason for purchasing a dyson. Dysons are great because they last longer than any other vacuum nowadays (and I stress nowadays, because they used to last longer); because they are easier to use (once you get used to it's unique design) than most other vacuums, and because of the fact that there are no running costs to operate it. If you look at the ratings on them by consumer reports, they will typically rate them around number 10 or so (mostly because CRs don't take into account how much longer a dyson will last you, or the running costs) but as far as straight suction goes, I would say they are only slightly above average.Dysons are great because they are an investment in a vaccum that you don't have to buy bags or filters all the time, and because of its life and ease of use...thats all. If someone tells you that it actually will suck better straight out of the box, they're either lying to sell you one, or they're mistaken. Still, they do work great, and are worth it if you can find one for a great price, around 400 or less.Last but not least, stay away from the ball (DC 15)its a nightmare...If anyone is in the area, they could come and see me at sears vacuums in Albany, Oregon...I'd be glad to show them all about the dysons...thank you for reading my extremely long review...Ryan (541) 967 3200

4They mustn't reach the surface!
By Brandon Abedor
Although this particular "base" scene was never quite shown in the movie, it's still a wonderful addition to the collection. If you already previously purchased the Alien Queen also made by McFarlane a few years back (from the movie Aliens), you will notice a few similarities.First off, the most noticable thing is the size. MUCH smaller than that other huge Alien Queen, yet nicely proportioned, and it's pose is similar to the previous one as well, right down to the pegs in the feet, so it will only stand with it's base. A major improvments here is actual metal pegs in the feet to hold her majesty in her base this time without breaking off. The paint job is mostly a black gloss, as opposed to the flat, grey tones of the previous. A bit on a down note, there are less joints to pose her in-- no hand swivel joints, an queenie's 2nd pair of smaller chest arms are permanantly attached (which is fine by me, they didn't do anything anyway). The facial features are very nicely done, teeth openin' wide (although her teeth aren't clear which is minor), even showing the double jaw. Her head is also sculpted more like the AVP movie; some spikes integrated on her "crown", as well as some battle damage with rougher edges and small "broken" areas, with yellow/green alien "blood" smeared and splattered to nice effect. This is clearly after she bust out of her egg chamber, but yet she doesn't have the stray chain which would ultimately doom her later on. This is nothing though, since I rather just have the queen solo anyway. (The Takara Microman line of AVP stuff which were just released make this McFarlane queen a near perfect scale to them, despite releasing a Queen in their line)McFarlane makes some wonderful things, but I've never found their plastic quality outstanding, thats the only reason I gave her some slightly low marks on that. This particular "2nd line" of AVP items isn't meant to be "action figures" but playsets and dioramas, most set in fixed poses, as you may have guessed from pictures. These are NOT scaled to any other McFarlane product, so be advised. Overall, the Queen is the only one I'm actually interested in, but I wonder why we never got a Captive Queen Egg Chamber, since this particular figure was so close to the one released in Movie Maniacs. This set is awesome though, a real sweet addition.

5It really works to extend the growing season in the cold North East
By Ali Julia
For the last couple of years I have been growing a couple of tomato plants on my patio in large pots. Until last year I waited to plant my tomatoes plants until the end of May as cold frosty night we get kill tomatos that are planted too early.Last year we decided to try pop-up green house to see if can extend the growing season in the cold North East. Small plants were planted in the green house in early April. My plants were watered by a drip irrigation system on a timer. I did not open the green house other than every two weeks to fertilize the plants. The plants grew rapidly and survived well through a number of frosty nights we had since early April. By the beginning of May my tomato plants had flower clusters.I was concerned about pollination, since my plants were covered and no well meaning bee could get to the flowers. After doing a bit of research I found that either insects, wind or hand shaking of the flowers would carry the pollen from the anthers to the stigma. I found that some people use electric toothbrush placed near the blossoms to simulate buzzing bees. But I went with a simpler method: shaking the plant gently once a week for self-pollination. The tomato pollen is not in the exterior of the anthers like most flowers but is produced internally and then released thru pores in the anther. Motion is required to release the pollen, and the greatest quantity is released by sonication of the "correct" frequency. When you shake the plant by hand try to mimic the natural resonances of sonicating bee. Shaking should not be violent, just as close to the right frequency as possible. Note that using implement like a cue tip or a brush is not very effective because the tomato's pollen is not on the surface. In the last week of May last year I noticed the first tomatoes on my plants which is pretty incredible for the cold North East! I felt like a proud mother since I polinated the plants myself with a technique described above :-)Update 5/21: I live in the Northeast, close to New Hampshire/Massachusetts border. This morning I noticed my first green tomato! The tomato plants are about 3 feet tall and have several flower clusters. A friend of mine and I bought the same variety of tomatos on the same day, but he does not use a pop green house. I visited his house this weekend and his tomatos are still little dwarves compared to mine! This pop-up plant house really works!

5Great little shelter
By K. Sumerlin
This is a wonderful shelter for potted plants here in the South. When temps are to go below 25 degrees I put a plant light in the shelter for added warmth and the plants have survived a temp of 15 degrees. The Planthouse is easy to put together and I have put 10 8 inch pots and a 6 inch pot in it. I previously had the 4' size which I used for 3 years and it would have been good for a fourth year but was damaged by a hail storm. Pretty good for such an inexpensive shelter

5Great Little Greenhouse!
By A. E. Johnson
I did not find this greenhouse to be difficult to assemble at all. It is reasonably sturdy and is doing a great job so far of keeping my roses protected from our sometimes fierce Ohio winds (I lost 9 of 10 bushes when I moved here last year because I did not protect them well enough from the wind). I do recommend adding a little portable fan or some other way to create air movement within the greenhouse for plants that are sensitive to any kind of fungus or mildew. Also, make sure to secure the greenhouse as it is very light and can blow away easily unless secured. This is a great product for the price!

5Excellent product at a great price!!
By PapaRaver
I have been researching plasma screens for about a year before I finally decided on a Panasonic. I was headed towards the consumer model with all the options, (which was a Consumer Reports best buy and the top rated CNET plasma), but then I found this model. It's the professional version with the same screen. It comes with inputs for component, composite, s-video, and PC. You can order other input cards for HMDI or any other input device if you want it. It doesn't have speakers or a tuner, which is okay for me since I have a DVR and I use my surround system. All I needed was a great looking screen and this is it. I shopped around for pricing on all the shopping sites, and there are some shady places that sell opened boxes or reconditioned screens for a "better price". Some try the old bait and switch or try to sell you the massive extended warranty. Panasonic won't honor the warranty from some of these stores too! Beware! The best price from a reputable place is from Tiger Direct. I hadn't ordered from them before, but I figured I'd have Amazon's buyer protection if I needed it. They shipped my order the same day and it arrived six days later via ABF Freight. I had ordered a Peerless SF-660P wall mount for it that arrived the same day, thank goodness! (I got it from the Peerless Industries website, if you're interested.) Everything is perfect and I couldn't be happier with how this screen looks on my wall. It has the best picture of any screen I've looked at. I highly recommend it.

5Exceptional
By Brian J P
This is by far the best for the highest quality 50" HDTV that you can find. New model 8 replaces this one -- only difference is 1080p, in addition to the 1080i which this model 7 is capable of. I have looked for this size HDTV for 5 years and have found this to be superior to just about everything on the market...the one caveat is that this is just a TV screen (no speakers are included). The optional TV stand works very well if you do not wish to hang the unit. My purchase from Tiger Direct was flawless -- product arrived quickly and in perfect shape.

5Panasonic 50" Plasma 5 Year Followup
By Pocketchange
After hanging on my bedroom wall for a half-decade and looking at the current crop of new available displays, I'm not looking to improve this (old) selection..nothing equals this displays picture.I picked up a cheap ($100) Magnavox Blu-Ray from WalMart and after my first movie, I don't think being without 1080P is a big loss in the long run, especially after viewing the current offerings..Maybe when someone comes out with smell-o-vision?

4Not Quite Wide Enough
By Green Bay Fan
The workmanship of these shoes is fantastic, great soft leather, stitching is superb and the soles are very smooth. The only downside is that my feet are very wide and although I purchased the "W" width shoes, they are still a bit narrow. I have been using the shoes for just over 2 months and the leather has stretched a bit, but the shoes are still a little snug in the width. If you have wide feet, these shoes may work, but be ready for some break-in time.

5Headed for the Dance Floor
By H. Braswell
Everyone's foot is obviously different, because these shoes fit me perfectly (I wear a size 13-M). I was a bit concerned about buying them online without having tried a pair on first, but that concern proved to be unwarranted.I thought the Amazon price was good, as I'd seen the shoes elsewhere for upwards of $100. My girlfriend "roped" me into taking swing dance lessons, and I didn't want to invest a lot of money in dance shoes I may never use again.I highly recommend them to anyone who doesn't have special fitting requirements where shoes are concerned.

4What anyone considering buying this product NEEDS to know
By Cecilia Chen
Things I wish I knew about this before I purchased it through the Amazon site:1) The cheapest secondary vendor Amazon contracts this item through is Tiger Direct (I purchased it at $1,699 for the new nonfurbished model in the summer of '05). When I originally ordered this, shipping calculated out to be $200! OK, I thought... expensive, but maybe that's just how Tiger Direct gets you, and the overall price is still killer for any 42" plasma. WRONG. It is Amazon that is taking the cut as the middleman (or at the least miscalculating). I ended up going through Tiger Direct directly, and for the same exact product, they charged me the same great price, and $135 on shipping. Long story short, I had to go through a lot of hassle to turn around the Amazon order mid-shipment, get a refund on that, but the TV I got from TD is here and looks amazing.2) Know that this is an INDUSTRIAL grade TV, and that is why they are able to price it the way they are. That means:a) No coaxial connection in the back. That meant I had to run down to RadioShack and buy expensive component connections for inputs through the cable box and DVD player, ended up costing me $110.b) No internal speakers. Had to run down to Circuit City to buy a $250 soundsystem (which IMHO was still worth it and something I would have wanted anyway). Had trouble with the sound, so had to pay the tech guy $50 extra to rewire it (turned out to be a simple mistake on my part).c) Comes with no stand or mount!!! What you are buying is pretty much a standalone screen which would ideally be wall-mounted. Right now it is leaning against the corner wall a little more precariously than I would like to see it. I will be purchasing a used pedastal off eBay, which is nice because it is only $20 (same model retails for over $200 new by my research). I did have to call the Panasonic 800 line to confirm that it would fit this model (and then had to be transfered to a special line that handles industrial TV's). Stands and mounts that support a model of this size are more expensive than I would have guessed (stands avg $150-300 retail, wall mounts that support 42" $200-400+).Just wanted to make people aware of these issues before they bought. Even given all the extra costs and hassle to me, I would still say it was a financially worthwhile purchase, considering that other 42" plasmas of comparable quality retail for at least a thousand more (and I got a greater soundsystem for my dollar). That's why I still gave it 4 stars. But just know that if you are trying for a simple plug-and-go TV, this is not it... but if you are willing to go the extra mile to get an incredible plasma screen TV at a rock bottom price, it's not a bad purchase (through TD, not Amz).

5This is the best EDTV around !
By RAMBO FIRE
It is almost 2 weeks since I have had this TV & I love it every bit.PerformanceAs claimed by the manufacturer, this TV truly brings to life, all imaginable colors. Many times, I just want to freeze the frame to enjoy the picture postcard like scenes. This unit is exceptionally quiet. Contrast is awesome & so is the brightness. It is more than you need. In fact, I had to reduce the brightness to below default value. While watching Wide Screen DVDs, it is guaranteed to give you a Cinema like experience.Watching conventional channels (analog & digital), this TV offers the best value for your money. While I do not subscribe to HDTV programming, I have watched HDTV on a similar Panasonic EDTV TV at a friend's place & I may I add - the clarity was breath taking. Features such as "Side bar Adjust" allow you to watch non-wide screen programs in "Normal" view without worrying about the over-sensitized "burn-in" issue by constantly refreshing the side bands.Bottomline - Is it worth paying an extra $1000 for a HDTV unit when this EDTV can come so close. Answer - Not unless you want to piss your $$$ away.DesignSimple & sleek is how many of my envious pals described this TV. I spent an extra $600 to buy an Italian design Bello PVS-4260 stand which matches perfectly with this design. Hence, I did not have to deal with cumbersome wall mounts or other ugly TV stands that take away appeal of the Plasma.ConnectionsI have an Onkyo home theatre receiver, a DVD player, Replay TV, Analog cable, Satellite Dish receiver & an Xbox. I feed my analog cable & satellite to my Replay TV. The combined output from Replay TV is fed as one of the component video (RYB) inputs to Onkyo. I connect my DVD player to Onkyo through the other component video input. Now, the component output from Onkyo is fed to the Plasma display's Video 1. I had to buy 3 BNC connectors & as many component video cables from RadioShack to make this connection. Finally, my Xbox uses S-Video of Video 2 of the Plasma. Across the board, for audio, I used Red-White cables from my audio sources to Onkyo. Finally, since this model lacks a built-in TV tuner, I was wondering about how to hook up my analog cable (over the wall). I even contemplated buying an external TV tuner. Luckily, I did not have to do that as realized that my Replay TV was capable of tuninganalog channels.Drawbacks* Analog cable signal might not have the best clarity. Recommend you to get a cable box or a satellite receiver to enjoy this Plasma.* Very few input ports to connect display. Problem solved if you have a good home theatre receiver already.

5Best TV for Home Theater!
By S. Hanna
Pros: Sharp, precise picture; excellent contrast and colour; sleek, no-frills lookCons: ED only; burn-in concernsI've been researching HD-compatible TVs for more than six months now - plasma, LCD, DLP, LCD projection, LCoS, and of course CRT. This TV came out the clear winner for several reasons:1. Contrast: there's nothing that I hate more than greyish blacks in dark scenes. This TV is a superstar when it comes to black level performance. You get CRT-deep blacks with this TV.2. Resolution: ironically, the fact that this is an EDTV (vs. HDTV) makes DVDs look *a lot better*. There's no video rescaling done on the images coming from the DVD, so what you get is a pristine picture. With an HDTV, the image has to get scaled up to HDTV resolutions (or even non-16:9 resolutions like 1024x678 with rectangular pixels), and so image quality is lost. With this Panasonic baby, however, there's none of that.3. None of the stuff I don't need: the lack of tuners and inputs isn't a bad thing...you can completely customize the TV with the set of inputs that you need based on the video sources that you have. Need HDMI? OK. DVI with HDCP instead? No problem! Complete input flexibility!Of course, nothing is perfect. Here are the issues that I see with this TV:1 Burn-in concerns: This is a not a problem that is specific to this TV, but rather to plasma TVs in general. I'm worried about burn-in due to "Anamorphic Widescreen" DVDs. Most widescreen movies are not 16:9, but rather 2.xx:1 (I can't remember the exact ratio). This means that even with a 16:9 TV like this, you'll see black bars at the top and the bottom of the image. There's nothing you can do to get around that, because these black bars are embedded in the 16:9 video that DVD players output. So if you want to avoid burn-in, you'll have to zoom in the image from your DVD player (image gets stretched and cropped, so it becomes less sharp), or one of the TV zooming functions (aspect ratio goes out of whack, such that people's faces become thinner). Again, this is not a problem with this particular TV only, but with all plasmas.2. EDTV: I'm still kinda bummed out that I can't see the finest of fine details in HD broadcasts (though the image still looks absolutely spectacular). Honestly, this one isn't that big of a concern. Most people can't tell anyway. In short: go buy this thing now!! If you're looking for a plasma TV, stop researching...this is it!

2Too Small and Overpriced
By Robin Lawson
I measured our old hamper, and this hamper was supposed to be larger than our current one. However, the measures listed in the product description (30" x 21" x 13") are for the metal frame; the fabric bag itself is approximately 25" x 12.25" x 12.25", making this hamper smaller than our current one. I will have to return it.The fabric looks great in the picture, like it is thick and opaque, but in person it looks thin and I can see lots of light through it. The metal frame looks silvery in the picture, but it is actually not even a "pewter" as the product description says - it is a very dark gray.I actually like the hamper's style, but for us it is too small and way too pricey (we paid $79.99) for what it is.I hope this post helps others make an informed decision!

5Competes Against the Big Boys for Half the Money
By M. JEFFREY MCMAHON
Built in a factory in China famous for its radio electronics, the Kaito 1102 has become a beloved radio among techies and radiophiles alike for many reasons. Open it out of the box and you'll notice it's tiny, smaller than a thin-sliced sandwich. Its silver, modern exterior looks as updated as any new Sony or Sangean or Grundig. Then place it against its competition, the Sangean 505 (about 20 dollars more), the Sony ICF SW35 (about the same price) and you'll notice that the Kaito beats the other two for different reasons. First, the Kaito and the Sony 35 have similar, strong reception, on both AM and FM, but the Kaito wins because it has a vastly far superior speaker, crystal clear and capable of good sound for this type of radio. The Kaito and the Sangean 505 have similar good speakers but the Kaito has better reception, especially on AM. My only complaint about the Kaito is the owner's manual which has five different ways of showing you how to use the presets and the "pages," and only one of those instructions (I found out two hours and much trial and error later) is accurate. You must press the M/Lock key to activate your preset option and for some reason the manual only makes this vaguely clear in one of its instructions. But if you don't mind fiddling with the controls and scouring the manual with a patient eye, you'll find yourself in possession of a gem and discover why so many techies consider the Kaito 1102 a real buried treasure that stands up to the far more expensive Sony 7600 and Sangean 909.Post Script: In the ensuing months I've bought the lesser priced Kaito 1101, almost identical to the Kaito 1102, and have found that the 1101 gets even better FM sensitivity. Many have expressed the same experience with the Kaito 1101. Thus I must conclude that for a PLL synthesized portable radio with presets, the Kaito 1101, which cost me thirty dollars less than the Kaito 1102, is the king of digital portable radios.Update: In spite of its awkward ergonomics, which include two-step preset choice and strange push-button volume control, the Kaito 1103 amazingly gets even better reception than the 1101. The 1102 is last of the three but has the best ergonomics.

5Fell in love with this little radio within 5 minutes of using it
By Breyel
The Kaito KA1102 (Degen DE1102 in Asia) is absolutely fantastic! It certainly lives up to all the positive things reviewers have said about it.It is as good as my 14 year old Panasonic RF-B45. The Kaito outshines the Panasonic with its 'wide' and 'narrow' bandwidth. The shortwave frequencies match the Panasonic for selectivity, although, perhaps, it's reception is a bit clearer. MW is a bit better overall. In Malaysia however the selection of MW stations is not as numerable as in the US; nevertheless, I was able to pull in a station in Vietnam that I could not get on my Panasonic, plus several Thai, Indonesian and Chinese stations. FM is more selective than the Panasonic as well. Bass and stereo reception may be heard with the earphones on FM.Some reviewers fault the ergonomics (i.e. paging system), but I find it no more confusing than some 3G cell phones. As for the push button volume control, well, again, it's like so many cell phones; you get used to it. I only find that it's not as loud as the Panasonic, but I suppose after-market speakers could remedy this. The blue backlight and rechargeable batteries are an asset too.The deciding factor for me over the Kaito KA1103 Worldband Radio/Degen DE1103 was its continuous tuning (3.10-30.00 MHz). The KA1103/DE1103 tunes only international shortwave bands, i.e. 75 meters, 60 meters, 49 meters, 42 meters, 31 meters, 25 meters, 21 meters, 19 meters, 16 meters, 13 meters. With continuous tuning, the KA1102/DE1102 catches stations outside these meter bands. As for cons, it overloads when an external wire antenna is hooked to the whip aerial, but this may be because it is amplified. When using an internal wire antenna of similar length plugged into the antenna jack there is no overload. With the Panasonic, it does not matter whether it is hooked to the whip or jack. The radio is about the size of a postcard. Reminds me of the old pocket transitor radios back in the 1960s. It will definitely be a keeper whenever I travel overseas. As for the price, it's definitely worth it. You get a lot of radio for the buck. I bought mine (Degen DE1102) from China and it was a lot cheaper than what you'll find elsewhere on the web. If you opt for this and you live in the US, you might consider getting a 110 volt power adaptor. My only hope now is that it gives me as many years of listening pleasure as the Panasonic RF-B45.POST-SCRIPT (30 March 2007)Six months on and this little dynamo is still functioning...and I have been pretty aggressive with it. From Malaysia, I have logged shortwave stations from Austria, Canada (CBC), Czech Republic (Radio Prague), Ethiopia, Egypt, Turkey (Voice of Turkey), the Netherlands (Radio Nederland), South Africa (SABC) Sweden (Radio Sweden), North Korea (Radio Pyongyang) and South Korea (KBS), New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International), Iraq (Kurdish speaking station), Voice of Africa (Libya), Iran and Taiwan -- all rather difficult to receive at times. Of course, BBC, Voice of Russia, China Radio International, NHK, Deutsche Welle, Radio Australia, Radio Thailand, Radio Indonesia, Voice of Vietnam, Radio Singapore, All India Radio are flame throwers in this part of the world. The single greatest asset of this radio remains its wide/narrow filter; it does a superb job of reducing powerful stations next to weaker ones. This portable SW PPL radio is still No. 1 in my book!!!POST-SCRIPT (20 March 2008)This little dynamo is still active and pulling in stations all over the world. Still the best buy around!POST-SCRIPT (11 APRIL 2009)The radio is still functioning and pulling in amazing signals. Just a few weeks ago I logged Spanish National Radio, Madrid, Spain. Still one of the best portable shortwave radios in its class.POST-SCRIPT (19 FEBRUARY 2010)The radio is still working and pulling in some rather exotic stations in this part of the world (Malaysia). In the past few weeks I have logged the Voice of Mongolia, Radio Bulgaria, Radio Tirana (Albania), Radio DMR Pridnestrovye (Moldova), Radio Romania International and Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. Everything is functioning, even the batteries still hold a good charge for hours. It remains an excellent buy for anyone interested in the hobby of short-wave listening.

5A pleasant surprise....
By j eastman
Being a novice at shortwave listener, I really shopped around to find the biggest *bang* for my dollar. Having experienced shortwave first with an old Zenith Transoceanic (which still sits in my livingroom), and then with a mid-80's Unitech, this purchase went above and beyond my expectations...Despite the cheapness the photo might imply, this is a solid piece of technology...it certainly looks sharper when it's in your hands... Though it's much smaller than I thought it would be, it definately lives up to the hype. Within minutes of installing the batteries, I was receiving Radio Beijing with astounding clarity.I primarily purchased this radio to listen to at home, but because of it's portability, I take it to work every night...although I work in a pretty high radio interference call center, my AM reception is dimished, but I still get all the major local broadcasters...the FM is absolutely solid (when many of my co-workers can only receive one or two FM signals on their cheap AM/FM/CD players, I can recieve all the channels, and because this unit goes all the way down to 70.0 FM, I get a handful of TV channels also...)At home, AM/FM reception is stellar...in the evening hours I switch to the shortwave and I can pull in MANY major broadcasters...I've been able to pull in stations as far away as Italy, and India...Although sound through the speaker is weak, it is acceptible...through the headphones it ROCKS (though not as loud as I would like), and at home, I use the "line-out" jacks to connect to my amplifier..the tuner on this unit is precise...with it's ability to pull in weak channels make it more valuable than my Kenwood receiver...I have yet to find anything on SSB to listen too, but given the reception I've received thus far, I doubt I'll be disappointed...I would certainly recommend this receiver to anyone who is curious about Shortwave radio, and would like something that's portable. **Also, the rechargeable batteries are a SUPERBIG plus...this radio will actually recharge the batteries! A really big incentive if portability is your thing....The only detractor I can find is that the manual that came with the radio is a bit hard to understand, and not very clear...but I've had the radio for a week now, and many of the functions are intuative, and became clearer to me with regular use...At this point I don't refer to the manual at all...
