The WARN 3" x 30' premium recovery strap is designed to "snatch" or pull out a stuck vehicle. pulled out every stuck truck at pismo

Used this to pull out 10+ vehicles so far. I just hook it up to my tow hitch and use a u-bolt on the other end. Get a small running start and the cable stretches and yanks the stuck vehicle out. It also doubles as a jump rope and hangman's noose.

A Great Strap

Nice, high quality product. The most impressive thing is that it is VERY easy to undo despite high loads that might normally cinch the loop too tight on itself. I have never had a problem getting it apart. They've designed this thing right.

WARN winching accessory kit

This Chinese made kit looks to be of good quality. The bag is nice in that it has pockets for the individual items including the chain to keep things from rattling and it has plenty of room for the winch control cable with room left over for a snatch strap (which shouldn't be used with a winch) or another tree saver strap. I am concerned that there is no sheet listing the load ratings of each of the hardware items.The "Choker" chain appears to be a yellow chromite plated transport chain with grab hooks on each end. Transport chains are usually sold to hold down loads on a truck. I think a choker chain would have a large ring or hook on one end so the chain can slide through thus choking the object to be moved, such as a log, this one doesn't. A grade 70 chain, labeled on this chain as a C7, has a working load limit of 4700 lbs. So this item may be the weakest link in the pulling operation. You need to estimate that limitation in the load you are moving. A wire rope, winch cable, will stretch quite a bit and you don't want a broken chain to be thrown back at you (If you are controlling the winch from the drivers seat open the hood as a shield in case some thing breaks and is thrown at you) . It looks to me that a 7/16" chain with a working load limit of 8752 lbs would be a safer choice but quite a bit heavier and costlier.I'm using mine with a WARN M8000 winch which is rated for a pull of 8000 lbs. I assume that means the wire rope supplied with the winch is also rated at that load but I couldn't find the specs on that so I'm wondering about it. Its strange folks can sell winch cables and not list the working loads. I found a ¾ inch shackle in another catalog with a rating of 4 ¾ tons so I assume that this one is rated ok for the 8000 lb winch.I haven't used these tools yet and wouldn't know if they hold up unless something fails and I knew for sure what the load was. This would be hard to tell because of the variables such as: what the vehicle is stuck in, how deep, on the level or on a grade, how much does the vehicle weigh, how much force is applied from the stuck vehicle by spinning its wheels, etc. Hopefully the motor on the winch would stall out before anything breaks.The gloves fit me fine and I usually take a large.

What you see is NOT what you get!

The quality of this bag is excellent; however, Amazon's PHOTOGRAPH shows a roof-top storage bag attached to the roof rack, while this larger bag was designed to be oriented from side-to-side on a REAR RACK THAT PROJECTS FROM THE TRAILER HITCH.To use it on our roof rack I had to cut a plywood platform for it to sit on, and run additional straps over the top. Since one orients things lengthwise on top of a car, the front end of the bag does not look like the one in the photograph---the front end actually has a wind-catching flap across it! Our 2,800-mile trip included a lot of stops to apply more and more bungie cords (to stop the flapping). At least the dogs enjoyed the many stops. For the trip back we've installed a luggage-securing bungie NET over it. The BAG itself is EXCELLENT!

It works!

The carrier replaces an older unit I had been using. It does a great job of protecting the contents inside from whatever the weather. The only issue I have is the zippers are a little difficult to operate when opening/closing the top cover. This might get better with more use. I would recommend this product for those with trailer hitch style carriers.

Sturdy Product, Misleading Photo

Overall, the product appears to be well built and sturdy. It took about an hour to assemble by myself. With help, it could easily be done in less than an hour. My only complaint is that the photo is misleading in two respects. First, it does not come with side rails. Fortunately, I read an earlier review which noted that fact and was not surprised when it did not come with the side rails. Second, the photos make it appear as if the carrier sits close to the bumper of your vehicle. That is not the case. In fact, this carrier sits out about twenty inches from the bumper of your vehicle. My guess is that it has to do with the hinge that allows the carrier to fold up. In any event, if I had any idea that it stuck out that far, I would have opted for the non-folding variety. But, other than that, the product appears to be sturdy and suitable for its purpose.

Folding option makes it worthwhile and convenient

I really think this product is a great idea. The folding carrier makes it great to bring a load of cargo somewhere, dump it, and fold up and not have to worry about backing up into something later on. I am using it on a Dodge Grand Caravan, and sometimes you have to watch out it doesn't scrape on the ground because the hitch on my van is mounted low. If this were used on a pick-up truck or SUV it would probably have pleanty of clearance all of the time. I also cut two pieces of 1/4" plywood to use as inserts in the carrier over the metal mesh support. This gives me a solid support on the angle iron sides, and more confidence that I will not break the metal mesh by accident. I know that if the mesh were solid, I probably could not lift the carrier by myself. I like it!!! It does stick out far from the back of my van, but I can open the back door, and then stand in the space and have access to that cargo space in the van. I would also suggest a locking hitch pin to keep this from coming out of the hitch. I had a hitch installed specifically for the carrier, and neither came with a hitch pin!

Good value for occasional use - least expensive hitch carrier of this size

This hitch carrier will work fine for basic cargo carrying; note the actual product does not include the high side-rails (which are optional). Build quality is okay, but assembly is a chore, and the hitch tube is not as rugged as I would have liked (it has thinner walls than I would have expected). Also the hitch tube is very square (the edges are not well rounded) and will not fit the receiver on one of my vehicles because of the square edges. Test the receiver tube as soon as you get it to make sure it will work for your vehicle before you go to the trouble of assembly. No hitch pin is included.

Nice cargo option

Bought this for a recent trip of about 1000 miles round trip and it performed well. Seems sturdy and went together easily. Be sure you have a decent set of metric wrenches and/or adjustable wrenches to get some muscle into the bolt tightening when assembling it (takes less than an hour). As the other reviewer noted, the rails are sold separately but I actually didn't want them. I paired it with a Highland Rola cargo bag also sold by Amazon, which comes with straps that you can rig to this unit. Although not mentioned anywhere, I was happy to see that a few sets of holes were provided for bolting your license plate to it, as well (you'll need to supply your own bolts/nuts for that).
