Worth every penny
By Harmonious Monk
My drafty little cottage is hard to heat. I tried an oil filled radiator. I tried a triple ceramic tower with fan. I still had to wear my coat. Together those two units cost less than half than this one. I should have just spent the money and bought this unit. It uses the same 1500W (at full power, there's also a 750W setting) and now I wear a sweater. Like the other reviewer I haven't noticed the unit get hot to the touch at all. And it looks charming too. Yeah, it costs more, but it's worth it if you really need the heat.

Superb heater - nearly silent, classy looking & completely effective
By torrid_wind™
I've been living in an apartment building owned by a slum landlord since the end of March this year. The building is decent. However, I've been told by the tenants that the landlord provides little to NO HEAT during the cold weather months. I wanted to be sure I was prepared. The Aloha 5120 BTU Home Hearth with Thermostat is classy looking, quickly heats a mid-size bedroom (with high ceilings) and performs nearly silently. Yes, the fire display feature is cool (a little cheesy actually), but I don't use it. It just needlessly burns extra electricity. The instructions for this unit contained repeated warnings about how hot the unit gets. I've had the heater on over night and nearly every exposed part of the unit was cold to the touch. The heat is emitted by blowers beneath the unit. The unit has two 750 watt switches. The instructions warned not to use the second switch. I followed this advice initially, but as the weather got colder, I finally had to flip the second 750 watt switch to warm the room sufficiently. I held my breath before flipping the switch, halfway expecting knock power out in the rear of all four apartments on this side of the building. However, not only was there was no calamity, the unit STILL DOES NOT GET HOT and heats superbly. I highly recommend this product (for performance and looks).

Good stove, but manufacturer sells it for 20 bucks less!
By Diane Gordon
This is a great little stove - if you happen to have any closed up fireplaces in your place, it looks wonderful on the hearth. Even without this, it is so much more attractive than a space heater - it does quite a good rendition of a wood stove, although it might bother some purists. I'd give the fire effect about a 75 percent for realism. Mine was dropped during delivery and a leg broke off - it was probably dropped pretty hard and they don't make thing the way the used to. That said, there is much to like about it. It's pretty quiet. The fan will circulate the air in the room, the "fire" looks pretty good for a fake one, plus the stove is cool to the touch - the hot air blows out from the bottom front of the stove. I'm so impressed with it, I'm thinking of buying a few wooden mantels and a few more of this stove to dress up and warm up a few more rooms. It adds such a cozy feeling to a room. One caveat - though amazon is usually a good deal, the manufacturer, [...] sells it for twenty bucks cheaper. Wish I had done my homework before buying it.Diane Gordon
