Peace of Mind
By Nicole Grotepas
When we first brought our baby home from the hospital, I was extremely nervous to go to sleep. We didn't have any problems with him, in terms of health. He was four days past his due date and very healthy. But the birth didn't go as planned and I had health problems afterwards. So, in short, I was gun-shy about everything. This monitor helped us sleep, especially in those initial few days of having our baby (first one) home, because he slept through the night immediately. We were expecting him to be up all the time, and when he wasn't, we'd wake up and realize he hadn't disturbed us and worry (and that was WITH him in OUR room in a bassinet). The only thing that helped was knowing the monitor was there.Couple of things: you HAVE to follow the instructions and put a board underneath the bed or bassinet. If you don't do that, the monitor goes off like crazy. I know, because we tried it without the board after we moved (put the board back and it works like a charm). Prior to that we used the board. I'm not sure how other reviewers have problems with this aspect of it (most don't mention this at all; I wonder if the false alarms are because of it, and yes, it even works THROUGH my son's crib mattress). Also, we haven't had much luck using the receiver as a sound monitor, hence four stars rather than five. It worked at first, but then it just stopped for seemingly no reason. We paid for the warranty upgrade, but haven't used it because we're lazy and tired of tracking things down like that. So, we just use it as a motion monitor and it's worked great.Often we forget to turn the thing off when we take our son out of his crib and the alarm sounds. It's annoying and comforting all at once. I will mention that we didn't have much luck using the receiver with batteries. It would lose the charge fast and simply not pick up sound. So if you don't have a lot of outlets (we didn't, living in house from the 1940s), that's something to consider about using the receiver. No matter what they say--that these monitors aren't like the ones they use in the hospital in the NICU or whatever--it helps. As a new parent frightened to death of SIDS, there's only so much you can do after covering all your bases with the other risk factors. In short, I'm pleased with the product, but if I did it over, I'd get the one without sound since it hasn't worked for me. If anything changes in the future (son's only 5 1/2 months old), I'll update this review.

So happy we bought this...
By mere4525
I am so happy I found this monitor. I was so nervous to move my baby into his own room because I was terrified of SIDS. The baby monitor we had was aweful, and only picked up our neighbors baby! I was in search of something better when I ran across this. It works wonderfully with very little feedback noise. It does occasionally pick up our neighbors, but usually only when we turn off the monitor in the baby's room. The movement alarm has gone off several times falsely, but even so this monitor is great peace of mind. You do have to remember to turn off the main monitor when you pick up baby, but its something you just get in the habit of doing. I wish we had found this weeks ago! Certainly worth the $$. I am very glad to have found this on amazon-at a good $10-20 cheaper than anywhere else.

Poor sound quality
By Michael Pollina
The baby monitor functions, but I'm not very happy with it. The microphone is fairly sensitive to noises within two or three feet, but it fades off quickly after that. The volume control on the receiver needs to be turned up most of the way in order for us to hear the quieter cries that our baby makes before she really starts wailing. At that volume level, there is constant background noise. The receiver crackles whenever you move near it or touch it. Basically, the sounds quality sucks. We haven't been able to use the motion sensor - our baby is still sleeping in a pack n play, and the sensor can't be positioned properly under her. The worst part is that the motion alarm doesn't go off at the receiver - it goes off at the transmitter! So when your baby rolls away from the sensor, it will go off and wake them up. Or, if you pick your baby up without fumbling around to turn the transmitter off first - it will go off, and you will have a screaming startled baby in your arms.
