Great ultralight spinning reel

This reel is lightweight and well-built from quality materials, very smooth and has good capacity for #4-#6 line. Easily casts ultralight jigs, soft plastics and crankbaits. Ideal for a 5'6" ul to 6'6" light rod for pond or stream fishing for panfish, trout or small bass. It appears that Daiwa has not changed the design in 20+ years. Nice to see a great product remain in production all these years.

I have used these reels for the past 15-20 years. I own multiple reels in all three sizes and use the 700 for trout and crappie. The 1300 for finesse and the 1600 for heavier lines and lures. I have thoughly enjoyed these reels and they have been totally trouble free.

Use the reel exclusively for catching bass with a drop shot setup. Smaller than most spinning reels makes it light and easy to operate with normal to small hands. I use this one with a shorter rod allowing me to pitch my drop shot under docks as well as vertical applications. I have two of these reels and I have used one for 3 years with no problems.
