THE GOLD STANDARD FOR OLIVE OIL - BUT NOT FOR COOKING!

WHY THIS SIZE:If you are not going to use this everyday, this fifth of a gallon size bottle, is more likely to stay fresh for its entire tenure, in a cool, dry place in your home than one of the super-size tins.WHAT IS "Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil"?This is probably the most popular product from this revered time-honored Italian company. Their famous label on the large tin with the coins pictured on it is something I can recall for half a century. This is "Extra-Virgin Olive Oil,Imported from Italy and is stated to be "All Natural & Cold Pressed". Bear in mind that "All Natural" is not "Certified Organic", though they offer Certified Organic from their specialty oil department.SPECIFICS ABOUT EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL:This is not an oil for cooking, as it has a very low smoke point. It is excellent for salads and for marinating and boasts a pretty low acid level. For cooking try their "Extra Light" product as it has a much higher smoke point.They have a large number of specialty products and a useful website at [...]This and most of their conventional oils are available at most groceries and this exact product sells for about $6. for a fifth of a gallon.
