5Heavy Duty and Built Like a Tank
By Miyomoto Masaki
I originally was looking for a Zoeller pump. I did not find one on Amazon that could ship out right away. This was the next best thing and happened to be half the price. I was looking for a sewage sump pump for a basement bath. It had to be well made to last because opening up a sewage sump tank to replace a cheap sump pump was not high up on my list of fun things to do. I usually don't skimp on the pumps.I needed one fast and order this one next day air. It came in via FedEx in the manufacturer's box, half way busting out of the box! FedEx had don't a real number on it and whoever shipped it hadn't double boxed it as Amazon usually does! The plastic float valve was busted!I had to send that one back. I ordered another one next day air and it came in the same way! At least on this one the float was intact. I wouldn't have dreamed of ever installing a pump given the questionable condition it arrived in, except that I was on an inspection deadline and needed this one fast. The pumps at our local plumbing outfit were 3 times the price. We installed it and it works great. It is a very well made pump. Very heavy and heavy duty. I give it five stars. I give the shipping department zero stars for a terrible job twice. I will consider ordering this again in the future. At least Amazon made the return easy and paid the return freight as well. This is a quality pump at a great price if you are looking for one.

1Stopped working after two months!!!
By R. Kim
I purchased this pump through Amazon in order to replace a sewage pump that had stopped working after seven years. I bought this pump on the recommendation of other buyers, but to my great chagrin, it stopped working barely after two months! After having to deal with the flooding and clearing out the remaining water in my basement septic tank (yet again in two months), I extracted the pump and tested it to determine what caused the problem. I checked the buoy, in particular, because a defective buoy can keep a motor turning constantly and burn it out, but the buoy worked correctly. I then checked my pipes to see if they were clogged, possibly causing the motor to be overworked, but there were clear. So, the remaining diagnosis was that the pump was defective because it did work at all with the power cords plugged in.I called the manufacturer, the Wayne Pump Co., and the first service rep. told me to return to him the cut power cord, which has the label identifying the model and serial number of the unit, and he would take care of it. That sounded great, and it made sense since shipping a very heavy and "used" sewage pump was not only undesirable to them but expensive for me. Furthermore, by cutting the power cord from the unit, it would make it unusable, thereby discouraging fraudulent claims. It sounded too easy, so I called back and another service rep. told me that a return authorization would be required. I fax'd them the requisite information (name, address, product model number, serial number, e-mail) but it took them rest of the day to e-mail me a return authorization number, delaying my repairs another day. I had to ship the cord to them the next day using an overnight service, costing me another ~$30. When I called them the following day, the service rep. assured me that they would ship out the unit that day (or the next at the latest). Not having received the unit yet, after waiting three business days, I called them again today, and they've just informed me that they haven't even processed my shipment yet! It's bad enough to have to deal with a sewage pump failure caused by a defect, but having to deal with a bumbling, incompetent customer service is even worse. If you want to avoid these potential problems that I've suffered with the pump and the manufacturer, buy something else. Otherwise, better luck to you.

4Wayne CSE50T 1/2 hp cast iron sewage pump
By old duffer
This is a HEAVY duty pump designed so it will not clog on rocks, clumps and debris. It is quite study and made of cast iron so it is very heavy; I'd say in the 45 to 60 lb range. The price was very good as was the turn time. There wasn't any special packaging - just the flimsy manufacturer's display box. The box was torn in several places and the shipper had to wrap the entire box in plastic wrap to keep the box from falling off. Because is built like a tank it suffered no adverse effects from the inadequate packaging. The pump works very well and performs beyond my requirements.
