Its a great lifetime set. Before you buy, check out your local Sears. I bought this set from them for 99 bucks.

1Wow. Has the quality gone to pieces or what??!!??

If you told me 20 years ago that in the near future Craftsman tools would soon be junk, I would have slapped you. I have purchased, used and owned a huge quantity of Craftsman tools. I likened them to the "poor man's Snap-on tools". Sure, the finish was a bit rougher than Snap-on, but the tools hand tools were always a solid feel and damn good quality. People even STOLE them (I know because It happened to me on more than one occasion and I REPLACED THEM.Well, that was then, and this is now. Whew. I spent a half hour putting all the tools into the case. The stamped markings that used to be deep-cut, are hardly legible anymore I needed to shine a flashlight at an angle on the socket sizes so I could read their size! Ok. Since I'm fairly good with eyeballing size when I use a socket, I can live with that I suppose. But the next part shocked me...I remember all the ratchets operating smoothly on Craftsman tools. They didn't have the small detent angle that tools like SK and Snap-on have, but they operated cleanly and smoothly.I grabbed the 1/4" ratchet expecting what I remember when I turned it in my hand. HOLY COW. Did that just feel like a 1$ from the bargain bin at the dollar store ratchet???? I tried clockwise then counterclockwise. Wow again. It only catches in one direction! I put a socket on it hoping by hoping that it would smooth out with a bit of use. Nope! A 1$ ratchet it is and only works in ONE DIRECTION!.Ok. Maybe a bad one slipped through. So I grabbled the 1/2". Tried the same thing. THIS WAS WORSE!! The ratchet was FROZEN!!! The direction toggle wouldn't even budge!Starting to be saddened by this all, I grabbed the 3/8", probably the most often used ratchet by everyone, hoping that maybe I could salvage at least one ratchet. Geezuz. THIS ONE SLIPS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AND THE SHAFT WOBBLES!!!I bought this set at Costco.I cannot believe what NAFTA has done to our tools! It has absolutely DESTROYED them. The note in the toolbox says do not return the tools to where you bought them, but to call an 800 number.I'm expected to keep this junk?Wow.

I am a 32 year old single mom buying a house with only my 7 year old son to help me. This tool set is great for my needs. It was easy to arrange in the case also.
