5Does what it is designed to do.
By J. Norgaard
After spending countless hours on the internet reading many reviews, this is the dust collector I bought. Although I did not buy it from Amazon I thought this review would help others currently in the market. I got mine from Woodcraft for $299. I think Lowes and Home Depot can get them also. Do a little shopping and then turn companies against each other by price matching. You'll save about 10% off your lowest price. Back to the actual review.I talked to the guys at Woodcraft. They advised it would be an excellent garage shop DC. But don't expect to put a 20ft 4" hose on it and get great collection. It's designed for a 10ft 4" hose. That doesn't sound like a lot, but I can put the DC in the center of my garage and reach all four corners. As far as the noise level 60-70 decibels. A normal conversation between two adults is 60dB. Just remember for every 3dB increase you double the sound level. An 80dB collector is going to be at least 3 times louder than this one. I find the noise output very comfortable. I can leave my garage door open with the DC running and not worry about the neighbors complaining. Sound alone was a major consideration when looking at other dust collectors. Now on to actual dust collection. I currently have a 10ft 4" dia. hose and a cabinet saw. Still building my router table, and other tools are on their way. This is for the cabinet saw. I have to say that I was quite pleased after a day of cutting half inch plywood. There was a layer of fine dust on the surface of the table, but I have a feeling that no dust collector is going to get all that.Wood Magazine has a good article on dust collectors under 300 dollars. Granted they tested the Jet DC-650 w/ 30 micron bags. At the end of the test they placed a 2 micron canister making the Jet DC-650CK and results showed a 130cfm increase over the already 650cfm. Good article, go read it.Overall I am very satisfied with my dust collector. Even happier that I saved a little money.I have to throw this in. Beware of the review that sounds to good to be true. Companies pay people to write reviews on here. After an hour of reading them you'll notice that some of them sound to much alike. I found reading the (one star) first helped the most, those people usually don't lie.

5JET 708640 DC
By Ron W
I bought this unit to replace a shop vac that could not keep up with my projects. This machine works great and is quiet compared to my QSP Shop vac that it replaced. Nice setup at a good price with the canister filter which is rated at 2 micron.

5Has worked well
By David Lowe
Arrived with a major gash in the box which resulted in a slight dent on the flange that holds the canister. Other than that--no problems. It arrived on time, went together easily and has work flawlessly. Has made a major improvement in dust control. I highly recommend this piece of equipment.
