Excellent Value

I own the Striper Soup Bait & Tackle store in Acworth, GA. We bought this vise last week and paid about $10 less elsewhere, but still got it from Ed's Fly Shop. We tie bucktails for striper fishing and this vise works out GREAT for what we are doing. We had originally bought the "best" vise that Do-It carried and it was hard to use in every way and actually broke. We had to rig it to fix it and make it work.The Apex vise has a sturdy mounting clamp, although I would prefer a "T" handle on the tighten screw rather than having to use pliers to snug it up on the bench top. The jaw operates smoothly and very accurately and so far holds our 1.5 oz jigs with 6/0 hooks very firmly. The base it comes with is heavy, but it would have to weigh 40 lbs to be heavy enough to stabilize our jigs as tightly as we wrap them, so I can't speak on its effectiveness. The rotation of the vise is smooth and has an optimal amount of friction.I believe we will be using this vise for years to come as it is made very well.
